Arctic-BLISS

The "Arctic atmospheric Boundary Layer Influence in Sea ice ensemble Simulations: a predictability & sensitivity study" (Arctic-BLISS) project aims to assess the short-term predictability of sea ice drift, a challenging problem posed by the daily to weekly forecasts in the polar regions. The project will use the state-of-the-art sea-ice model with a brittle rheology, coupled to an interactive atmospheric boundary layer and perform ensemble forecasts to evaluate predictability.

FAIR2Adapt

The multidisciplinary project "FAIR to Adapt to Climate Change" is geared towards transforming data into actionable knowledge to shape climate adaptation strategies. By transforming data into flexible, practical, and resilient climate adaptation strategies, FAIR2Adapt will construct a scalable and extensible model for data sharing that can be adapted to multiple climate adaptation scenarios.    

SEACLIM

The project "European seas climate impact prediction through regional models" (SEACLIM) will provide regional information on future decadal-to-multidecadal changes in the marine environment and related impacts in European Seas. Leveraging regional ocean models of the Copernicus Marine Service, it will advance the understanding of physical and ecosystem processes to improve regional predictions and projections and develop pre-operational predictions of decadal and multi-decadal changes in the marine environment.

CMEMS SI TAC 25-28

The EU's Earth observation program Copernicus has various working groups, and in the project "Copernicus Sea Ice Thematic Assembly Center" work is being done to deliver products that include sea ice satellite data such as weather forecasting in polar regions and marine safety for ships.

Euro-Argo ONE

The international Argo program is a major component of both the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) and the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS). OneArgo is an upgrade of the Argo program designed to intensify the monitoring of climate change and ocean health. The upgrade includes the Polar Argo mission and BGC Argo programs. The project "Euro-Argo ERIC scaling up for OneArgo Network Extension" aims to set in place the necessary evolutions and step changes towards OneArgo array implementation.

SAMOS

The aim of the "South African Master of Ocean Sciences" (SAMOS) project is to establish a master's degree that is internationally recognised, innovative and of high quality. The master's degree will educate researchers who can contribute to the development of a sustainable blue economy, thereby strengthening regional capacity to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

WATER

The "Wide-swath Altimetry for Eddy Reconstruction" project aims to quantify and enrich the active mesoscale content that can be extracted from conventional altimetry maps and experimental SWOT-enriched ones.

CMEMS ARC-MFC 24-28

The production of Arctic ocean data for the EU's "Copernicus"-program is led by the Nansen Center. Copernicus provides updated forecasts and reanalyses for the Arctic Ocean, including sea ice, biological, and chemical variables. Forecasts are relevant for safe navigation in the Arctic.

EO4SA

The "Earth Observation for Sustainable Aquaculture" project is investigating applications for aquaculture management and the marine industry. Researchers are developing and demonstrating applications related to, among other things, harmful algal blooms affecting the shellfish farming industry and fish mortality due to salmon lice outbreaks.

Climate projections for Reisa National Park and Pasvik Nature Reserve

This project is co-developed with national park managers. It diagnoses future climate scenarios for Northern Norway along warm-wet and cold-dry axes. Using regional climate models, it assesses plausible changes in ecosystems and recreational uses — such as winter activities, fishing, and birdwatching — across selected national parks, informing adaptive strategies.
