RESCOP

In the project "Remote Sensing Monitoring in Marine Ecosystem Based Spatial Planning", models will be tested along the coasts of Norway and Croatia, with a focus on indicators for how healthy the ecosystems along the coasts are.

NICEST-2

The project "The Nordic Collaboration on e-Infrastructures for Earth System Modelling, phase 2" aims to support climate model use by improving workflow. It should be easier to make climate models work as efficiently as possible.

ARCTIC+ SALINITY

Measuring the salinity of the sea in the Arctic with satellites is difficult, but the project "Arctic+ Salinity" aims to do exactly this. This gives you the greatest possible coverage compared to local measurements directly in the water. How much salt there is on the surface of the sea water says something about freshwater movements and thus has an impact on the climate the Arctic undergoes.

MAXSS

Strong wind events have a major impact on the interaction between air and sea. The project "Marine atmosphere extreme satellite synergy" will improve the observation and characterization of such events, through the use of different data sets from satellites and the earth's surface.

CAPARDUS Extension in Norway

The "CAPARDUS Extension in Norway" project is an additional project to CAPARDUS EU and focuses on network Svalbard with the involvement of players in tourism, the local council, the head of the administration and researchers from both the natural and social sciences. The project will contribute to ensuring that research on the archipelago has societal value.

PILOT PROSJEKT VEIKART

Earth observations from satellites in space are of great importance for various fields, such as research, monitoring and services. The project "Roadmap for national strengthening of interdisciplinary development and use of Earth observations until 2030" will provide an overview of the opportunities to strengthen Norway's role as a leading nation regarding Earth observations from satellites in the northern regions and the Arctic.

OTC23

In connection with the circumnavigation with Statsraad Lehmkuhl, the Nansen Center and ESA are jointly organizing a course on board the sailing ship: "Advanced Ocean Synergy Training Course 2022/23". Students and young researchers take part in a theoretical part before coming on board the sailing ship to take part in the practical training. The aim is to learn how satellite data of the ocean can be used to monitor changes and compared with ocean measurements and model fields. The project is linked to the PECO2 project.

ARKTALAS

The "Arktalas Hoavva" project characterizes large-scale interactive processes and feedbacks that cause changes in the Arctic sea ice and the Arctic Ocean and the surrounding oceans using satellite observations, direct observations and modeling tools.

KeyCLIM

In the project "Key Earth System processes to understand Arctic climate warming and Northern latitude hydrological cycle changes", researchers will improve the Norwegian climate model NorESM with the aim of understanding and reducing the uncertainty of projected climate changes in northern regions, with a focus on Arctic warming.

COMFORT

n the project "Our common future ocean in the Earth system – quantifying coupled cycles of carbon, oxygen, and nutrients for determining and achieving safe operating spaces with respect to tipping points", researchers will find out what possibly happens to marine ecosystems when different tipping points are passed. Experts from different disciplines work closely together and stakeholders are also closely linked to the work.
