Johnny A. Johannessen

Johnny A. Johannessen is a physical oceanographer. He received his PhD from University of Bergen in 1997.

Johannessen use satellite observations to investigate air-sea interaction, mesoscale processes, and upper ocean dynamics in the open ocean, in shelf seas and along the marginal ice zone.

Johannessen is part of the center’s management team and leads the coordination department’s areas of responsibility:

• Announcements – overview and information, coordination, and quality assurance of research applications
• Overall follow-up and reporting to public authorities
• Contact and follow-up with relevant directorates and ministries
• Dialogue with interest organisations
• Dialogue and follow-up with the international Nansen centres
• Research support
