Helene R. Langehaug

Project Manager, Senior Researcher

Helene R. Langehaug obtained her doctoral degree in physical oceanography at the University of Bergen in 2011, while employed at the Nansen Center. She has a background in ocean circulation and water masses in the North Atlantic Ocean and the Arctic Mediterranean.

Langehaug’s research focus lies on understanding variability and mechanisms in the ocean, and to evaluate to which extent this is represented in global climate models and climate predictions. Her overall aim is to contribute to improvement of climate predictions in the Atlantic-Arctic region. She is leading the research area on “Limits of climate predictability” in the Bjerknes Climate Prediction Unit, and the ocean team under the “Sustainable Food Production” in Climate Futures.
