PECO2

The project "Partnership for Operational Oceanography" was created to develop a collaboration platform between the partner institutions in Norway, South Africa, China, France, and India. It will be used to share advanced knowledge and experience in operational oceanography and support the training and education of the next generation of experts. The voyage from Maputo to Cape Town aboard St. Lehmkuhl with 60 students from 25 nations is included in the teaching and training.

SEAMLESS

The methods used by the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service to monitor marine ecosystems could benefit from improvements. The project "Services based on ecosystem data assimilation: essential science and solutions" will supplement the improvements.

TRIATLAS

Anticipating future changes in the marine ecosystem can support the sustainable management of marine ecosystems. In the project "South and Tropical Atlantic - climate-based marine ecosystem prediction for sustainable management", a method is being developed to predict the changes in the southern and tropical Atlantic Ocean.

LoVeOcean

In the "Lofoten-Vesterålen Marine Observatory"-project, advanced underwater technology is used to collect key data and provide fundamental new insight into marine processes, organisms, and conditions in the sea. New insights are needed to establish better models that focus on the status of marine ecosystems.

CVL

In the "Cryosphere Virtual Laboratory" project, an easily accessible system is being developed which will give access to a lot of Earth Observation data with a focus on the Arctic. The system will make it possible for users to develop their own systems to deliver information about the rapidly changing Arctic.

FOCUS

In the project "Accounting for forecast uncertainties in communicating sea ice and weather information in the Arctic", researchers work closely with users from the commercial and public sector to improve warning systems for weather and sea ice in the Arctic.

TURBAN

Extreme weather events such as long heat waves or cold spells reduce periods of comfortable temperatures in cities all over the world. In conjunction with increasing air pollution, life in cities is becoming more difficult. Modeling the air conditions in cities is therefore becoming more important and the project "Turbulent-resolving urban modeling of air quality and thermal control" is working on developing suitable methods.

NorArticHE

The project "Positioning Norwegian Arctic research and innovation priorities in Horizon Europe" will establish a Norwegian network of researchers at institutes, universities, administration and industry related to Arctic research and innovation. The aim is to convey and promote Norwegian Arctic interests in the European Commission's Horizon Europe programme.

HARMONY MISSION

The European Space Agency is planning new satellite missions in the future, and one of these is "Harmony". In 2029, two satellites will fly into space and contribute to better monitoring of the climate and related changes in the sea, in the sea ice and on land. In the project "HARMONY Mission Performance and Requirement Consolidation Activity for Ocean Applications", various requirements and performances of the mission will be tested in advance.

ANTHROPIC

In the project "Assessment of climate change's impacts on radioecological safety of subpolar and Nordic marine environment", the researchers are working to predict where radioactive pollution may spread in the North Atlantic and the Arctic Ocean in the future. They take into account different climate change scenarios and possible emission sources.
