MUDDYFEET

The project "Multi-scalar dynamics of flood events" developed tools to study extreme weather in Norway with regard to different size scales: both the big picture and local scales.

HIARC

In the project "Anthropogenic Heat Islands in the Arctic - Windows to the Future of the Regional Climates, Ecosystems and Society", researchers studied warmer microclimates in Arctic cities. Connections between "heat pollution" and dangers and opportunities for sustainable urban and industrial development were the aim of the research.

EPOCASA

The changes in the North Atlantic and the Arctic have an impact on the climate in the Northern Hemisphere. Forecasting climate change in short periods of time (seasons to years) has great value for society. In the project "Enhancing seasonal-to-decadal Prediction of Climate for the North Atlantic Sector and Arctic", researchers developed a system to produce such warnings.

ORGANIC

Ongoing climate change is expected to change the circulation in the ocean. The project "Overturning Circulation and its Implications for Global Carbon Cycle in Coupled Models" aims to improve the understanding of structure and variability in the ocean's large-scale circulation, as well as its impact on climate and ocean biogeochemistry over different time scales.

TRAKT-2018

In Norway, most people live in cities where air pollution and landscape changes have impacts not only locally, but also regionally. The project "Transferable knowledge and technologies for high-resolution environmental impact assessment and management" supported the work to develop new climate standards for, for example, urban planning in northern regions.

SONARC

In the project "Development of sea ice monitoring and forecasting system to support safe operations and navigation in Arctic Seas", researchers developed a system to monitor and forecast sea-ice conditions in the Arctic using satellite data and models.

GeoAccessNO

"GeoAccessNO" is a preliminary project that has looked at improvements in the national ability to secure research heritage within geosciences. The project has looked at both physical and digital data, as well as connecting data and software through workflows.

GCloudI

The Arctic is one of the cloudiest regions in the entire world. The climate changes in the region affect how many clouds and what types of clouds occur and the project "Arctic clouds research collaboration" researched the changes in the clouds and documented them.

SNOWGLACE

There are complex connections between the shrinking Arctic sea ice cover and the weather and climate in mid-latitudes. In the project "The Changing Arctic Cryosphere: Snow and Sea Ice Impact On Prediction and Climate Over Europe and Asia", researchers studied these connections to understand them better.

DADA

In the project "Detection and Attribution of climate change based on Data Assimilation", new strategies and methods were explored and developed to use data assimilation even better to research climate change.
