Edson Silva

Researcher

Edson Silva obtained his MSc degree in Remote Sensing from the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research (INPE) in 2020. In 2023, he obtained his PhD at the University of Bergen, while employed at the Nansen Center.

Silva’s interests are oceanography, algae blooms, and bio-optical algorithms. He works on assessing the mechanisms triggering algae blooms in the ocean and how to forecast them. Currently, he is focusing on harmful algae blooms, which produce toxins that can threaten human health and negatively impact the fishery and aquaculture industry.
