Annette Samuelsen
Research Leader, Senior Researcher
Annette Samuelsen leads the Ocean Modelling Group at the Nansen Center. She is also the Norwegian co-director for the Nansen-Tutu Centre for Marine Environmental Research in South Africa. She obtained her PhD in physical oceanography from Florida State University (USA) in 2005, and the topic of her PhD was the interaction between wind, ocean currents and algae in the Pacific Ocean off central America.
Samuelsen is interested in the interaction between physical and biological processes in the ocean. She uses coupled physicochemical ocean models to study this. Over the years, she has been involved in building up the activity within operational oceanography with a special focus on the development of biogeochemical models for use in operational systems.
