Çağlar Yumruktepe
Researcher
Veli Çağlar Yumruktepe has a PhD in oceanography Middle East Technical University (Turkey) in 2016. He is experienced in the development of marine biogeochemical models.
During his career, Yumruktepe has worked on simulating marine ecosystems in different oceans across the globe. The simulations provide a better understanding of the connections in the ocean. He used model applications for the Mediterranean and Black Sea, the North Atlantic and the Arctic Ocean. His current research is focused on understanding how the marine ecosystem in the Arctic functions. His particular expertise is with lower-trophic level models representing oceanic primary and secondary production, plankton community structure, and organic matter cycles which are strongly tied to carbon and its capture and storage, removing it from the atmosphere (sequestration).
