Tore Furevik

Tore Furevik was hired as managing director at the Nansen Center in July 2021. He came from the position as director of the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research (period 2014 -2021). He has previously been associate professor and professor at the Department of Geophysics at University of Bergen, Norway.

Furevik has a Ph.d. in physical oceanography from 1998. He has particularly researched how the sea, ice and air interact, on natural and man-made climate variations, and on the connections between changes in climate in different places on Earth. He is widely used as a speaker and as a climate expert in the media.
