Understanding these complex environmental changes requires sophisticated digital tools and predictive models. This seminar will explore how the integration of spatiotemporal AI techniques offers unprecedented capabilities for monitoring and predicting polar environments to make informed and timely decisions.

We will explore the power of digital twins to create dynamic virtual replicas of the polar regions to enable researchers to gain deeper insights into polar processes and make more informed predictions. The seminar will highlight examples of how this cutting-edge technology is utilised to: Forecast sea ice change for shipping and wildlife; Monitor ice sheet dynamics and sea level rise; Track changing polar ecosystems and biodiversity; and to Predict extreme weather events in polar regions.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″ css=”.vc_custom_1695033709348{padding-right: 0px !important;}”]

When and where?

Thursday, the 30.05.24, at 14:00 – 15:00.

Copernicus lecture room, 1st floor, Nansen Center, Jahnebakken 3, Bergen

Om Scott Hosking

Hosking is the Science Leader for the AI Lab at British Antarctic Survey, and Co-Director for the Turing Research and Innovation Cluster in Digital Twins (TRIC-DT at the Alan Turing Institute).
