The change will be of a direct nature if there is an increase in extreme weather events, or indirectly if extreme weather in an area can affect supply chains, food prices or refugee flows. The change will be of a direct nature if there is an increase in extreme weather events, or indirectly if extreme weather in an area can affect supply chains, food prices or refugee flows. All parts of society will be affected.<\/p><\/div>[vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">By understanding the effects climate change will have on nature and society, one can implement risk-reducing measures and limit the harmful effects. We forecast what the weather and climate conditions will be like in the future. Through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatefutures.no\/en\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Climate Futures<\/a> project, we participate in the development of seasonal forecasts. The forecasts can be of great use to private businesses, the public sector, service and business organizations, and research institutions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">At the Nansen Center, research is being carried out on the effects of climate change on urban communities. Since the impact of climate change and extreme events will vary in relation to geographic location, local calculations and adaptations must be made.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">We also look at how climate change affects sea levels, and what effects this has. They have impacts on both human health and on the economy of aquacultures. The project \u201c<em>Machine learning for prediction and projection of harmful algae blooms hazards<\/em>\u201d (NorHAB-ML) aims to enhance the accuracy of predicting harmful algae blooms (HABs). In particular, the project will develop a new algorithm for improving the accuracy of remote sensing on the Norwegian shelf and using coastal modelling products. NorHAB-ML aims to predict HABs harmful for aquaculture accurately, as well as high biomass bloom that can be harmful to fisheries. The abundance of Vibrio and bacterial population structures will be described through cultivation methods from samples coming from both seafood (bivalves) and seawater (main routes for human infections).
