He obtained his PhD at the University of East Anglia (U.K.) in 2010, focusing on the dynamics of extreme wind jets around Greenland.

Outten has developed a diverse portfolio of expertise in climate dynamics – how processes in the atmosphere change over time and affect both weather and climate. He has researched large-scale teleconnections between the Arctic and mid-latitudes, as well as extreme wind impacts across Europe on a local scale. Another field he has been active in is multi-decadal variability in global heat transport. He has also been modelling the role of natural (e.g., volcanic) and anthropogenic forcings in the climate system. A common thread in his diverse studies has been the understanding of local-scale, often extreme, events and how these are controlled and shaped by large-scale atmospheric dynamics.

["post-4125","employee","type-employee","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
],"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
