Nicholas Williams

PostDoc Fellow

Nicholas Williams is a sea-ice scientist, and he obtained his PhD at the University of Reading (U.K.) in 2022.

Williams’ research focuses on the use of data assimilation in sea-ice models to increase our understanding of the Arctic sea ice. During his PhD, he focused on improving estimates of the thickness of the sea ice in the Arctic over the past 40 years using satellite data. His current work at NERSC is tied to improving the Norwegian Climate Prediction Model (NorCPM) and involves developing the assimilation of sea-ice thickness and sea-ice drift in the model. He is also using advanced data assimilation techniques to improve the prediction of sea ice.
